The Golden Apple Tree Clinic | Physical Business Cards
Golden Apple Tree Clinic
So the business cards/ appointment cards are fully done now. Printed. Done on different stocks.
The business cards have a spot varnish across the logo. Which feels beautiful. On a 400gsm silk finish card. The appointment cards where made on a 400gsm silk finish smooth card also, no spot varnish, so that then it was easy to write appointment times on the card, when given to a client, easy to do so in biro/ballpoint which is what the Jonny uses.
The Leaflets have been sent off now, and therapy in progress posters are done also.
This will allow the business to hand out in packs everything that one would need to know to sum up the business. It may have been a bit of a gamble making the logo to do with purely the title and not anything to resemble chiropractors, but time will tell if this gamble pays off. I think it looks sleek and stands out amongst other chiropractic business cards, for its simple, and clean cut approach- which sums up McTimoney- does the job.

The Golden Apple Tree Clinic | Business & Appointment Card
Screen shot of working in Illustrator to create the back & front of the business cards.
Had a difficulty with this as there are 2 address to be put on the business card.
Cannot wait to see this printed in spot UV varnish. It will make me very happy to see the final product.
With this being a specialist effect on the card, there is now no need for a limited edition series made in letterpress, which is a shame- but practical. So maybe in the future once he has a set basis of clients.

Appointment cards have also been designed- this is them in their illustrator form, i cannot wait to see how they are to be printed. I am really happy how well the front and back connect with one another. It was a simple idea- but looks and works really well i think. Blue lines won't appear on print, they are just me playing around with the guideline- to make everything beautifully aligned.
Changed the typeface to gill sans on the business card, as feel it is easier on the eye to read then Futura. Plus I don't really want the bulk of text to be in the same typeface as the logo.
- also attention to detail- check out the @ signs on the e-mail, changed font sizing so that the sizing is in align with the rest of the text, otherwise it looks funny and the wrong sizing in comparison to the rest of it.

The Golden Apple Tree Clinic | Logo Development
So after spending the day having a group tutorial and working on the logo designs further, these are what have been designed today. The slightly burnt orange edges of the apple seem to be liked the most, making the logo feel warmer and more friendly for clients. The Business cards have to be ready by tomorrow evening, so lots still to work on, but it'll definitely get done, am on a roll now. May need to make adjustments to the type sizing of The Golden Apple Tree so that that is easier to read. Got the feeling that the ones that have been most successful so far are the ones where the apple is not fully present, but from colour and shape it is still easily recognisable as an apple.

The Golden Apple Tree Clinic | Initial Designs
Explanations for what has been done so far.
After spending the day with Jonny talking over the logo designs, he really liked the idea of this simple one golden apple. Tad worried may remind me of mac. But he wanted something simple and bold, and i said a logo should be simple so its memorable. So he likes this design so far. There shall be a tree incorporated into this. And should work well as animation for the website design. Also we've agreed that a number of limited edition cards shall be produced which should work beautifully in either letterpress or screen printed medium. Something involving hand crafted materials, especially as this is for a chiropractor that is working with hands and takes patience and a massive element of care like these printing techniques. And I had the idea of laser cutting the bark of the tree that will be incorporated into this. STUNNING hopefully is how these three process will work together.
I decided on a sans serif typeface as most clinical/ medical companies work on the basis of sans serif, verdana for example. But i'd like a twist so need to work on the spacing and sizing of these typefaces.
The clinic is called the golden apple tree clinic, because the golden apple represents eternal health & love. There is a possibility of adding features to the apple for paediatrics as this is where Jonny shall be going in his chiropractic future. Figured a few tweaks to the original logo, would make that quite simple and beautiful. I think I am going to work with the bottom typeface but add edit the vectors so that it either incorporated the spine or apple figure to it, subtle- nothing in your face, just a few beautiful well thought out features, when you start looking at the typography.
