Final Hand In

Final hand in for Camberwell College of Arts.

I set my logo for this series of projects in Headline Bold in letterpress, then after taking a long time to work out what paper to use, chose colorplan 540gsm in various colours. This is made up in the Lakes and technically you can get any colour you want made, it is basically two layers of paper meshed together to gain this weight. I chose this weight as when letterpressing I could then deboss and it would not effect the other side of the paper. also this weight is sturdy and great to use as a file.

Each file as a different project within it. Some are dvds and others printed material.

Arts Libris Book Fair | Barcelona

 

2 Books designed and made for Barcelona book fair.

Top book: Glamours top hot men of 2009. A list of 45 of the hottest men, which I then drew out each person, so 45 heads. which were then designed in illustrator, then laser cut into cardboard then lino printed into a concertina book in baby blue on some beautiful paper bought from JC Purcells. Each book is individual as throughout the process different sections of the faces fell off- due to the nature of laser cutting through cardboard. Baby blue was the colour chosen to print the faces in witht he cover being in a deep red. Pocket sized book.

Bottom Book: Taken from the old school typeface found on phones originally when texting, I then broke this down so that they could be cross stitched. I wanted more of a loving feel to the book. Also a bit of a DIY project, as when you get the book you can then cross stitch the whole book if you want to. The book is called love texts and am playing on how texts can be read in different ways. It's a story between a boy and a girl, where because one hasn't replied for a while the other one gets annoyed, no x's. Just think its funny how people interpret texts. So if something is in CAPITALS it is taken as being angry. I was wondering if you could have a text typeface which could be in italics, bold and regular. Maybe used as a key for interpreting texts. Fascinated by the language of texts as well. It's like a whole other world. This book is also just slightly bigger than the original mobile size.

There is a series of about 10 per book to be sold at the book fair in Barcelona.

Stockwell alphabet.
Made a book of Stockwell in its digital and printed forms!!
Again- many adjustments need to be made- but the difference between digital and printed is amazing.
I love printed work it feels like it has more character.

Definitely needs improvement but makes a nice summary of the exhibition.

Project 101| intitial book design

Okay so this book is called 101.
It's 101 ideas as tokens.
It shows a little bit of my personality and the way in which i work.
Constantly generating ideas- i have put just a few of that selection into a book.
Each page is perforated- so you tear it off and you have an idea for a project.
There are 101 ideas within 5 categories. (Typography needs a lot of work.)
But it is a start and i think it's quite beautiful and fun.
The next idea is to make a permanent book, so the ideas are always stored in there. Only there are duplicates to rip out- so you can work your way through ideas or in general if you need inspiration.
I've already chosen the paper- 40gsm offenbach bible paper and 70gsm Redeem (Natural off white- with shive). Beautiful paper.
